Though you can’t avoid being on the road for your job, you can drastically shorten the amount of time you’re travelling by following these simple time-saving tips. Keep these in mind the next time you are en-route to your corporate housing San Diego destination.

1. Always Keep a Bag Packed
Even if you don’t currently have a trip planned, having a bag pre-packed with fresh clothes and essentials will save you time preparing for your next flight. Just grab your bag and go when that alarm starts beeping at you.
2. Fly Regional Airports
Though they may offer fewer flight choices, flying out of smaller airports will save you major time and hassle. Security lines, traffic, parking, and the check-in process are almost always quicker and easier at regional airports.
3. Book Direct Flights
Taking direct flights to and from your destination may seem more expensive at first, but you may be able to avoid other expenses like overnight stays, hotel, car and meal expenses.
4. Check In Online
Checking in online will allow you to skip the lines and proceed directly to security. It is important to note, however, that checking in online is only helpful if you have no luggage to check. So, always travel with carry-on sized bags.
5. Select Your Seat
Always request being seated as close to the front of the plane as possible. This way you can hop right off the plane once you’ve landed rather than being stuck behind the amateurs in the aisles.
6. Sign Up for a Clear Security Pass
These passes are available at several of the nations busiest airports. The Clear Security Pass is  a high-tech card that allows pre-screened travelers to bypass the long airport security lines. Of course, there is a fee of $128 per year and you must fill out an online application and attend an in-person appointment for activation. The hours you will save over a lifetime of travel are well worth the time necessary to get one.
7. Sign Up for Frequent Flier Programs
You travel all the time, so why wouldn’t you want the perks of doing so? Members of frequent flier programs can gain access to designated security and check-in lines, which are always shorter and faster.
8. Pre-Program Your GPS Device
Program the addresses for all of the stops you’ll be making on your trip (including airports, hotels, meetings and restaurants) into the “favorites” section of your GPS unit. This will save you from fumbling with maps and asking for directions when you arrive.
9. Park Smarter
Signing up for monthly parking passes, when possible, will prevent you from waiting in long lines to purchase parking. Always try to park in the same lot, in the same general vicinity to avoid that dreaded search for your car when you get home. Valet parking is always the quickest option, but it is also the most expensive.
10. Rental Car Tips
Join an auto loyalty program at a rental car company to receive shorter waits when picking up and dropping off cars. You will have to do a little research to determine which company has the most convenient pick up and drop off location, but it is well worth it. Also, sign up for e-recipts to save time at drop-off.
