The economic downturn contributed to fewer airline seats being made for business travelers in 2010, a situation caused by an increase in overall flight occupancy. A recent USA Today article written by former airline executive David Grossman claims that there won’t be much improvement for business travelers this year. They will face higher prices for airline seats, and new airport security procedures are making air travel more difficult to handle.

All forecasts for business travel have a similar thought: Airline and hotel prices in 2011 will have higher rates. It appears only car rental outlets, because of intense competition, will offer lower prices this year. Again, it makes sense for business travelers to plan for temporary housing well ahead of time in order to take advantage of any special deals offered before the real demand crunch hits.
