The holidays are here. And if you’ll be jetting off to celebrate the most festive time of the year, you know just how hectic it can be. The lines are long, and it seems like everyone is going somewhere. But don’t despair. By following these tips, you’ll make it your destination and be digging into a warm slice of pumpkin pie before you even know it.
Make your reservations now
If you haven’t already, be sure to book your flight and room STAT. Prices typically go up once the holidays are in full swing. If you’re looking for cozy and homey accommodations, consider contacting PC Housing.
Arrive early
Since the security and check-in lines may be so long that people are lined up outside the airport (though hopefully not), it’s best to show up two hours early for your domestic flight. This should give you enough time to get through everything and not miss your flight.
Carry Your Essentials With You
Even if you never check a bag, the flights will probably be full, and you’ll want to keep all your essentials with you in case you have to hand you bag over to the airline. Be sure to have a smaller bag you can stow under your seat with medication, contact lenses or other important items—like that pastry from your favorite bakery in town that you want to share with your relatives.
Pack Light
Assuming you aren’t carrying a ton of gifts with you, try to keep everything in two bags. You won’t have to check in at the desk since you already checked in online (another great travel tip!) and can go right through security. Just be sure to not to pack anything that might get thrown out.
Prepare for Security
Unless you’re fortunate enough to get in the TSA’s pre-check line, get ready to take off your shoes, put your liquids in a plastic bag in a bin and take out your laptop. No, it’s not fun, but you’ve go to do it.
Don’t Drive to the Airport
Assuming you can avoid it, have someone drop you off at the airport. Chances are the roads will be clogged and not having to park will reduce the time to takes you to get to the terminal.
Check Your Flight Status Before You Leave
Flights get delayed all the time, and you don’t want to waste hours upon hours sitting on those uncomfortable chairs waiting for your flight. Be you leave your home, check the flight status online to ensure it’s leaving on time. And it’s not on time, realize you have some extra time to sleep in.
And once you’ve finally arrived at your final destination, know that PC Housing has a variety of comfortable and cozy accommodations to meet your needs.
