Comic-Con is coming to San Diego! Every year this entertainment mainstay makes it way to the San Diego Convention Center, bringing crowds and excitement to the Downtown San Diego area. If you’re headed to Comic-Con, there’s a lot of San Diego Comic-Con housing options, with many including access to the official Comic-Con shuttles to and from the event.

Ways to Stay:

Hotels

While the hotels in the Downtown region sell out almost as quickly as Comic-Con tickets themselves, some of the further away hotels still have rooms as we get closer to the event weekend. Many hotels in the Mission Valley area are on the Comic-Con shuttle route, and they’re also close to the San Diego Trolley, which heads right to the Convention Center as well as other points of interest in San Diego such as Old Town and Little Italy.

Another popular place to stay is Shelter Island, which is adjacent to the beautiful Point Loma neighborhood. Shuttles go from most of the Shelter Island hotels to the convention center. A list of Comic-Con shuttle supported hotels can be found on the Comic-Con website. Hotel rooms during Comic-Con often have huge price increases, given the huge demand, but there are still budget options out there if you’re willing to travel a little further to get to the events.

Airbnb

Airbnb has a few different options for Comic-Con. There are many whole condos and houses in the San Diego region available for rent over the weekend, as well as shared spaces like private rooms in people’s homes. It’s almost like staying with a friend! Airbnb doesn’t have a shuttle service, but when paired with ridesharing services such as Lyft or Uber, it really is like staying with a friend who will drop you off! There are also numerous offerings on Airbnb that are near the trolley or are within walking distance of the convention center. There’s a solution for nearly every budget here, though places do get booked quickly.

PC Housing

If you’re looking for a great deal and a sneaky way to get a great place when nearly everything else is sold out, check out the offerings at PC Housing. PC Housing has full houses, condos, and studios around San Diego, including Downtown. You could rent an entire home for less than a hotel, especially with the price increases that come up in the downtown area hotels. Combined with the ridesharing programs recommended above or the trolley access, private housing offers the luxury of staying in a home away from home.

No matter your budget or your preferences, there are ways to have a blast at Comic-Con and stay somewhere that meets all your needs. And remember: the heat in the conference halls and on the floor is notorious for creating a stinky environment so don’t forget your deodorant!
