Since spring weather is finally here after one long winter, chances are you’ve got summer vacation on your mind. If you’re searching for places to visit, there really is only one answer: Canada. Before you write it off, we want you take a closer look. Canada is brimming with gorgeous places, tasty eats and cultural delights. Here are six reasons why Canada should be your next destination:
British Columbia is Beautiful
Vancouver has a reputation of being a gorgeous place. Enjoy mountains, sunshine and sparkling water views wherever you go. We’d suggest enjoying the great outdoors at the 1,000-acre Stanley Park. Check out Vancouver Convention Center, walk through the park and then chill out at the Kitsilano Beach Park. If you really want a thrill, consider walking across the shaky Capilano Suspension Bridge. It’s mostly fun, not scary though. Trust us.
Experience the Great Outdoors in Banff
If you’re looking for an outdoorsy destination with breathtaking views, you’ll love Banff. To start, we’d recommend heading to the Rockies. Go for an easy hike, kayak on a lake or just bask in the sunshine somewhere. But it’s not all alfresco activities. After a long day outside, consider relaxing at a spa. If you’ve got in your budget, consider enjoying the expansive and luxurious Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Banff Springs.
Enjoy Tasty Eats in Montreal
You don’t have to look far to find a great meal in Montreal. We’d suggest seeking out the French-speaking city’s most-famous culinary contribution: poutine. If you’re not famialar with it, poutine is traditionally fries smothered in gravy, cheese curds and other toppings. In other words, it’s delicious. Thrillist ranked Garde Manger’s famed lobster poutine as one of the best. Serious Eats has put together a comprehensive guide on how to spend 48 hours eating your way through the city. Here’s to great eats!
Soak Up Culture in Toronto
If you’re the type that makes a point of hitting up every art museum when you’re in a new city, make a point of visiting Toronto. This multicultural city’s art scene is thriving. Check out world-class ceramics exhibitions at the Gardiner Museum. If you’re looking for a truly off-the-beaten path experience, consider the Bata Shoe Museum. Here you’ll find more than 13,000 footwear artifacts—like really old shoes—in addition to many beloved shoes from pop culture figures. Expect to see Beatle John Lennon’s boot, Robert Redford’s cowboy boots and Elvis Presley’s blue patent loafers.
